Privacy Policy
At HanziCue, we believe that your personal data belongs to you. Our app is designed to help you learn Chinese and Japanese vocabulary using Lock Screen widgets and flashcards without compromising your privacy. We do not collect, store, track, or share any of your personal information.
We do not run any proprietary backend databases or registration systems that log your activity. You do not need to create an account or sign in to use HanziCue. All data—including your vocabulary decks, progress snapshot, settings, and custom configurations—stays exclusively on your device or in your private iCloud storage container (if sync is enabled).
All imported Anki packages (.apkg), CSV lists, progress data, and settings are stored locally on your device in the app’s sandbox and shared App Group container. This allows the Lock Screen widgets to load your next due cards instantly. We use Apple’s native iCloud storage for cross-device syncing, which is secured by Apple's end-to-end encryption.
Transactions for HanziCue Pro (Monthly subscription or Lifetime option) are processed directly by Apple via the StoreKit framework. We do not have access to your payment methods, credit card details, or billing information. Apple provides us only with anonymous purchase status tokens to verify your premium access level.
Text-to-speech audio rendering is handled entirely on-device using iOS's native speech synthesis system (AVSpeechSynthesizer). No voice recordings or text inputs are transmitted to third-party servers.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Since we do not collect your contact details, we encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes. Updates are effective immediately upon posting.
